Robert Delaunay 1912

robert-1This abstract was painted by Robert Delaunay in 1912. His uncle in 1902 sent him to Ronsin’s atelier to study decorative arts in the Belleville district of Paris. At the age 19, he left Ronsin to focus entirely on painting and contributed six works to the salon des independents in 1904. I extremely like the fact thyat it looks like a painting inside a painting! the contrast in the middle is lighter than the sides which bring my attention to the rectangles and triangles in the middle of the painting. I also like the way the colours fade together makes it look like you can see right through the painting.
