Instagram

 

Instagram was launched in October 2010 The service rapidly gained popularity, with over 100 million active users as of April 2012. The name Instagram originated when the two creators Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger were kids they loved playing around with cameras, they loved the fact that different types of old cameras marketed themselves as “instant” they also felt that the snapshots people were taking were kind of like telegrams so from there they joint the two together and came up with what we today call Instagram.

If I had to describe Instagram I would say it’s ‘Life in pictures’ it’s really easy to use. You can Snap a photo with your mobile phone and add a filter to transform the image into a memory to keep around forever. The Instagram app is available for downloading in the Apple App Store and Google Play store for free.

I use Instagram myself, in my own opinion it is the best social media, what I like most about it is the way its set up, very simple to use and the best place to store pictures, it is also a good place to keep in contact with friends and family via the ‘direct message’. Instagram has recently added a new feature witch you can compare to snapchat it allows you to make video threw out your day to make a story that stays up for 24hrs.

Facebook

The Facebook website was launched on February 4 2004, by Mark Zuckerberg, along with fellow Harvard College students and roommates, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes, Facebook allows users to broadcast and share information to others

Facebook is mainly used to post pictures and to write short updates on your life, people interact on Facebook on a daily basis, there is also a comment box under any post where you can leave a short note. It’s a great way to see the everyday lives of friends and family that you can’t see every day.

I own a Facebook account myself and have to say it is great! It keeps me in contact with friends and family not only written but also in a visual way because you can post pictures of yourself for people to see. Some people don’t like it but in my opinion it’s just because they aren’t using it properly, for an example they might be friends with people they don’t personally know so things that they post won’t be relevant to them.
